June 2022 Newsletter

Hello my Cadillac-LaSalle Club friends,

I hope all are healthy and doing well, (also no sick Cadillacs, of course they don't get sick very often)! I'm happy to send our next Carolina Chronicles to you, my friends. What an interesting newsletter, thanks to our esteemed president, Travis. I found the article on the Great Gatsby Autoworx tour delightful. Wish I could have gone, but unfortunately, I had "Other fish to fry". Hopefully, next time.

I really enjoyed Travis' article and photos on the Summer Picnic at the Snider's. I couldn't go this year, but it brought back lots and lots of fond memories. Then, there was the most interesting article on the grand national. Many of us can't always make it to the Grand National, but when we do, it's always fascinating.

It was great to see photos of Travis' brand new, limited edition CT4-V Blackwing. He waited a long time for it, but it was obviously worth the wait.

Finally, I deeply appreciate the Newsletter Excellence Award from National. Of course, I couldn't have received it without Travis' help. Thank you, Travis. And I wish to thank each of you, my friends, for allowing me to be your editor these last five years. I count it as a privilege and a joy.

Hello my friends,

First, I want to say how much I enjoyed seeing so many of you during our Statesville event. And what an event it was! But, I won't say anymore. You can read all about it in the Chronicles. This month's Chronicles is just filled with good articles. But, that should be no surprise. We, as a club, have a lot of good things going on. When I look at the upcoming scheduled events, I marvel at how many and how outstanding our events are. It's great being a part of such a fantastic club with all of you great members.

All the articles in the Chronicles this month are great. However, it's great to see the focus on the LaSalle. Both Travis and Lowell wrote outstanding articles on the marque. I found it interesting all the detail and history that Lowell wrote about his .'37 LaSalle Convertible. I have always had a love of the LaSalle, but was never fortunate enough to own one. Guess I'll just have to admire Lowell's and other LaSalles when I have the opportunity.

Enjoy the Chronicles. I look forward to seeing you soon.

February 2022 Newsletter

Hello my Cadillac-LaSalle Club friends,

I hope things are going well with each of you. Attached is your February newsletter. What an outstanding issue! Not because of anything I did, but because of our president's outstanding articles.

I particularly enjoyed the Cadillac/LaSalle article, and I'm glad Travis will be following up with more . I love both brands, but I have a special place in my heart for LaSalle. I understand all about why Cadillac dropped the brand, but it's been sad to see LaSalle head to the automotive bone yard along with so many other greats such as Packard, Hudson, Nash, and a host of others. Nevertheless, my hat is off to those who took their time and money to maintain our LaSalles so that car enthusiasts can appreciate what America lost when we lost LaSalle.

On another note, as you may know, the club had planned to go to Miles Little's fabulous memorabilia collection for our March 12th event. However, Miles will be out of town on that date attending an auction. Travis is hard at work arranging another tour for that date, and will announce the event as soon as it's firmed up. We still plan to tour to Miles Little's in the near future.

Have a good day, my friends. See you soon.

Hello my Cadillac Club friends,

Attached is your June Carolina Chronicles.

After a long dry spell, it's great seeing my Cadilac Club friends again.

First, there was the Waldhorn luncheon and Caddilac show at South Charlotte Cadillic, which was most enjoyable.

Then came the picnic and Cadillac gathering at the Snider's home. What an outstanding event. Thank you, Hugh and Shiela for a marvelous get together.

Next, you definitely don't want to miss the Hickory tour. The event will start at Lowell Carlsons garage. then lunch, then Andrew Straw's collection , then David Clark's collection. Any one of the three collections would be an event in itself, but three is one day is fabulous. You don't want to miss it. I hope to see you there. I am attaching the tour flyer and you will find it within the newsletter as well.

As a matter of fact, along with the March Chronicles, I'm attaching two flyers for events Travis has planned for us. January 2021 Newsletter

Hello my Cadillac Club friends,

It's been a long, long time since we've been able to get together, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Dalpha and I received our first Covid-19 shots recently and our second shots are scheduled for next Monday, Feb 1. Of course we will still live in an abundance of caution with masks and social distancing.

I hope you were as blessed as us, and have your vaccinations underway or perhaps scheduled. It will be wonderful to feel a bit more safe from the virus. Hopefully, we can soon get together after a year of missing each other's company. I know we are all looking forward to seeing each other in person and having some fun times soon.

Attached is your January 2021 Carolina Chronicles. Yes, that's 2021. I believe we are all happy to look at 2020 in the rear view mirror!

I always enjoy the work I do on rhw Chronicles, but I think January's is just outstanding. Not because of anything I did, but because of Travis' articles. His article about the North Carolina Transportation museum just captivating. Also a big "Thank you" to Kathy Tudor, our graphic designer for her fantastic work on our covers.

Have a good day, my friends, and enjoy the newsletter

October 2020 Newsletter

Good Friday afternoon, my Cadillac Club friends!

I hope and pray everyone is well, and free from the virus. It's been a long haul for not only our club, but for everyone. As for me, I have felt that I needed to be overly cautious because of my age combined with my heart and lung problems.

It goes without saying, I miss all you great guys and gals terribly, not to mention our good meetings, tours, and other events. This pandemic has lasted far longer than we expected. Hopefully, we'll get a break soon. However, we, along with most clubs, have had to cancel plans through the end of the year.

Nevertheless, we can still enjoy our Cadillacs, (they can't get the virus), and nice long relaxing rides do both us and our Cadillacs good. Then, we have our newsletters and magazines for relaxing enjoyment. Perhaps just as importantly, or even more so, we have our phones and email. Let's stay in touch with each other along the way. I, for one, would enjoy and appreciate a call, text, or email from you, my good friends.

Hopefully, by New Years, we will have good news regarding the virus and can begin to resume some fun activities with each other and our Cadillacs. I told my Cadillacs to "Just wait 'til the first of the year and we'll all have fun". Well, stay well, stay safe, and I hope to see you soon.

Hello my good Cadillac Club friends!

I hope and pray that you are all well and safe from the virus. I, for one, have really tried to observe the "Shelter in Place" order. It's pretty boring, but with my recent health problems, and my age, I'm afraid I'm a prime candidate to be hit very hard by Covid-19. That, of course, is why I felt I needed to miss the wonderful Snider Picnic. Hugh and Sheila, I know it was a fantastic picnic, and I not only felt bad about missing it, but also about not seeing you.

That being said, I miss all of you, and look forward to the time in the hopefully not too distant future when we can all spend time together. With that in mind, as you know, our good friend and fellow club member Fred Caldwell is planning his outstanding car show again this year. I hope to see you there.
